CPHI professional education is accessible through multiple online platforms, enabling working adults and professionals across Virginia to participate in flexible, self-paced, and hybrid learning:

  • ProTrain — Workforce development and professional skills courses
  • TalentLMS — CPHI’s internal learning management system for certificate programs, enrollment tracking, and course management

CHW Community of Practice

The Eastern Virginia Community Health Worker Community of Practice (CP) is an ongoing, collaborative learning and support network designed to strengthen, sustain, and advance the community health worker workforce across Hampton Roads and Virginia.

Anchored at Norfolk State University through CPHI, the CP provides structured opportunities for CHWs to share knowledge, build skills, exchange best practices, and collectively address the challenges they face in community-based public health work.

Military & Veteran Training

SkillBridge Program

CPHI coordinates the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program, enabling active-duty military personnel to complete public health workforce training during their final months of service. CPHI serves as a Third-Party Intermediary (DoW).

A three-tier leadership and communication curriculum for the general public, supervisory and emerging public health professionals.

Health Equity & Implicit Bias CEU Module

A 4-hour, CEU-eligible implicit bias and health equity training for public health and clinical professionals. Aligned with Virginia 2023–2024 legislation requiring implicit bias training for providers.

Professional Education Programs

The Professional Education Program (Public Health Workforce) strengthens the capacity of the public health workforce through evidence-based, practice-oriented training aligned with current and emerging public health needs. The program supports lifelong learning and workforce readiness through flexible, non-credit learning opportunities grounded in real-world application.

Training focus areas include community engagement, leadership and communications, and continuing education aligned with national public health competency frameworks. CEUs are available for select offerings.

HIP: (Non-Credit) Education (Workforce Education Program Development) [2,4]

Lead the design and delivery non-credit workshops and certificate programs for the public health workforce, with an annual target of 2,000 learners. Programs focus on workforce development and career advancement. Develop and implement training in key areas, including public health workforce skills, leadership development, and professional communication competencies. Coordinate and manage workshops, short courses, and workforce-focused learning events.
