Community Education & Empowerment Program

The Community Education & Empowerment Program provides accessible, culturally responsive public health education to community members, community-based organizations, faith-based groups, and local leaders.

Grounded in principles of equity, social justice, and community engagement, the program leverages university expertise and community partnerships to address priority health issues. The program emphasizes co-learning — recognizing community members as partners and experts in their lived experiences.

Priority Health Issues in Hampton Roads

CPHI coordinates the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program, enabling active-duty military personnel to complete public health workforce training during their final months of service. CPHI serves as a Third-Party Intermediary (DoW).
