Representatives from more than a dozen organizations gathered at Norfolk State University’s Nursing and General Education Building for the inaugural Community Health Worker Quarterly Meeting. Facilitated by the Center for Public Health Initiatives at NSU, the meeting brought together community health workers, advocates and organizational leaders from across the Hampton Roads region to discuss the formation of the Eastern Virginia CHW Alliance. Participants explored the coalition’s proposed mission, vision and charter, with conversations centering on health equity, culturally competent care and addressing social determinants of health. The group also identified goals aimed at ensuring every family in Hampton Roads has the knowledge, resources and tools necessary to live their healthiest life. The next quarterly meeting was scheduled for September 2022.
