Transforming Public Health in Virginia Video

American Heart Association HBCU Edition Community Conversation: Good Habits Build Better Health Born from the vision of the Hampton Roads Heart and Stroke Ball Chair, the HBCU Edition Community Conversation brought together students, community members, and health professionals for a dynamic day of wellness education on the campus of Norfolk State University.

Sponsored by TowneBank and presented by the Center for Public Health Initiatives at NSU, this free community event took place on Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Attendees engaged in a series of powerful panel discussions led by local experts, NSU faculty, and community leaders covering four critical health topics: Heart Health & Blood Pressure, Stress & Financial Wellness, Nutrition, and Tobacco & Vaping.

Beyond the conversations, guests enjoyed an interactive wellness village, field day activities, and food — making heart health accessible, engaging, and community-centered. The event reflected NSU’s ongoing commitment to bridging health equity gaps and empowering Hampton Roads residents with the knowledge and tools to build healthier lives.

Thank you to all moderators, panelists, and sponsors whose time and dedication continue to make Hampton Roads a heart-healthy community.
