Delivered as a comprehensive 8-hour certification workshop, this evidence-based training was developed and facilitated by United Way using their established curriculum. Sessions were offered on a rolling basis from September through June 2025, making it one of our year-long priority initiatives — a commitment to meeting our community where it is.
Understanding that access to training opportunities is a barrier for many, we expanded beyond our own walls. Workshops were hosted at the Center as well as at several community sites, including local churches, bringing this vital education directly into the neighborhoods we serve.
Participants who completed the training earned an official Mental Health First Aid certification, equipping them with practical skills to provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge — and to connect them with the care they need.
