NSU Nursing PSA’s Description

Transforming Public Health in Virginia Video

We are proud to present a series of Public Service Announcements created by NSU nursing students. These student-led PSAs bring important health topics directly to the community — in relatable, real voices from the next generation of public health professionals. From prevention to wellness, each PSA reflects our commitment to education, empowerment, and healthier communities across Hampton Roads.

In this PSA, NSU nursing student Denise Smith breaks down what it takes to build and maintain healthy relationships — and she makes it easy to remember. Using the acronym C.A.R.L., Denise walks us through four essential pillars: Communication, Asking questions, Responsibility, and Listening. Whether in friendships, family, or romantic relationships, these four principles can help us create connections that support our mental, emotional, and overall well-being. Take a few minutes to meet C.A.R.L. — your guide to healthier relationships.
